When starting a new business, you will make hundreds of decisions, and many of those can be costly and affect the future of your business. Most photographers have little direction available on how to take these critical first steps to set themselves up for success.
Kathy Holcombe and her husband Peter have built multiple photography businesses over the last 15 years. Kathy will share what they have learned so that you won’t waste time, money and resources trying to find the perfect formula.
You will learn how to:
- Define your brand
- Set up social media channels and a business website to support the vision of your brand
- Develop an effective strategy for marketing to your ideal client
- Develop a product line and profitable pricing structure
- Develop a sales strategy to maximize your time and sales average

You’ll not only learn how to get you started but also how to turn a profit through your photography in your very first year of business. Skip years of trial and error and invest your precious startup dollars in strategies, tools, and equipment that will immediately start making you money.
KATHY HOLCOMBE
Peter and Kathy Holcombe once owned a traditional mom and pop studio based in Boulder, CO that catered to a high end wedding and portrait clientele. Three years ago, they sold their home studio and moved both their family and business into a Winnebago RV and hit the road, taking their twelve year old daughter along on the adventure of a lifetime.
Over the past 24 months, their business model has changed dramatically. While they still create fine art portraiture in some of the most dramatic landscapes across the continent, the Holcombes have turned their lenses inward, focusing on their personal adventures in wild and scenic places, and creating social media content for top brands such as Winnebago, GoPro, Goal Zero and Jackson Kayak.
Currently they are on a 24 stop tour – kayaking, climbing, hiking and biking their way through National Parks across the country in celebration of the centennial of the National Park Service in 2016. The Holcombes have carved out a one of a kind niche in the outdoor adventure sports arena, and are pioneering new business models of professional photography.
